The Food Warehouse launches Wine Warehouse concept

Iceland Foods owned The Food Warehouse has opened a new £1.5 million store that incorporates its first ever Wine Warehouse department.

Situated in Cheltenham, the new department offers 300 lines and is managed by wine specialist staff who will be looking to ‘demystify’ wines for customers who would like help and advice when buying. It will also feature a tasting counter and a fine wine bay.

Wine Warehouse managing director Richard Walker said: “We wanted to fill the void between the limited range at a budget off licence and the premium prices at a specialist retailer. The Wine Warehouse brings customers an extensive range of award-winning wines coupled with everyone’s favourite brands at unbeatable prices. We’re excited to see how this new concept is received by our customers.”

Iceland Foods is now considering other UK sites for future Wine Warehouse departments.

Walker added: “This is not a time for any business to rest on its laurels. Outdated, unchanging retailers are falling fast and leaving more and more empty units on the UK’s high street. It’s up to bigger businesses to innovate and come up with ideas that will keep customers and jobs in the towns and cities that need them.”

The Food Warehouse now has more than 75 stores across the UK. Each store is given a high quality warehouse style fit out, and covers between 8,000 and 15,000 square feet of retail space.
