Tesco's group media director stands down

Trevor Datson, Tesco’s group media director, has announced that he will be leaving the supermarket giant.

Tesco's group media director stands down

Trevor Datson, Tesco’s group media director, has announced that he will be leaving the supermarket giant.

The announcement follows news last month that Tesco has ended its 12 year relationship with Maitland, its corporate communications partner, to work with PR company Brunswick.

Datson, who has held the role for the last two years, previously worked with Tesco from 2006 to 2008 in the capacity of head of corporate media relations.  He said he was leaving the supermarket to take time out and consider his next steps.

His role overseeing international communications will be handled by UK communications director Tom Curry who joined Tesco last year from the Olympic Delivery Authority.

Group executive director corporate and legal Lucy Neville-Rolfe said: "After two years as our group media director, Trevor has decided to leave Tesco and pursue career and lifestyle options outside the company.

"He goes with our best wishes and thanks for effectively and professionally managing our media relations during a period of transformation and change in the business."
