Tesco launches online Easter marketing campaign with Easter egg hunt
Tesco has launched its Easter online marketing campaign with an online Easter egg hunt which uses Google Street View technology to allow players to explore their streets to find virtual Easter eggs.
As part of the Find The Eggs game, thousands of virtual eggs have been hidden on streets across the UK on the Find the Eggs website. To take part, players visit the competition web page via a computer or mobile phone and use GPS or type in their postcode to begin their search. They then navigate their way through their local streets to hunt down the virtual eggs which can be exchanged for prizes.
Players finding one of the virtual eggs win a chocolate bunny. Those who find one of the "extra special" golden eggs receive a tablet computer.
Find the Eggs follows the Pull-a-Cracker campaign that Tesco ran at Christmas, which saw thousands of Twitter users pull a virtual cracker with friends.
Jude Brooks, head of social communities and insight at Tesco said: “Our customers loved Pull-a-Cracker at Christmas, so for Easter we wanted to find another way to bring people together online to join in the fun."
"The Easter egg hunt is a much loved tradition and this year we’re excited to be giving it a digital twist. We hope that people from across the country get online and search for the virtual eggs hidden on their street and even hide some for their friends.”
As part of the campaign, Tesco is holding a number of Easter egg hunts in selected stores in the run up to Easter. There is also a 30 second TV advert featuring a family settling down to enjoy an Easter lunch while the youngest focuses all her efforts on finding the final egg in a classic Easter egg hunt.
