Tesco adds BBC content to Clubcard TV

Tesco has signed a deal with BBC Worldwide to provide a range of popular BBC cookery, comedy and drama programmes for its ad-supported streaming service Clubcard TV.

The agreement will see the supermarket giant add hundreds of hours of comedy, drama, children’s classics and cookery to the free service for Clubcard members. Programmes will include comedy shows such as Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and cookery programmes featuring chefs such as Antonio Carluccio, Ken Hom and Gary Rhodes.

“With this deal we’re adding a raft of new TV titles to our expanding catalogue, providing access to even more great digital entertainment in a way that’s easy and accessible for customers,” said Clubcard TV managing director Scott Deutrom.

Lisa Rousseau, head of UK, Ireland and Pan European television sales at BBC Worldwide, added:  “We’re thrilled to have concluded such an extensive deal with Clubcard TV which will offer their customers a rich range of fantastic British content.”

Launched in March 2013, Clubcard TV also enables Tesco to target viewers with adverts during programmes based on their shopping habits.
