Ted Baker hires new non-exec director

Fashion brand Ted Baker has appointed digital and marketing specialist Sharon Baylay as a non-executive director.

Baylay’s career includes 16 years at Microsoft where she was general manager of the advertising and online division for Microsoft UK. This was followed by a stint as director of marketing, communications and audiences at the BBC, where she also served as a member of the board and as a non-executive director of BBC Worldwide. She is currently a non-executive director of AIM-listed Restore.

At Ted Baker Baylay has been appointed as a member of the audit, remuneration and nomination committees.

David Bernstein, non-executive chairman of Ted Baker, said: "We are delighted that Sharon has joined the Ted Baker board as a non-executive director. Sharon's experience in the digital and marketing sectors will be invaluable in a competitive retail market in which ever-increasing importance is being placed on online engagement with customers. We look forward to her contributions going forward."

Ted Baker has also announced that Andrew Jennings has accepted a permanent appointment as chair of the remuneration committee after carrying out the role in an acting capacity since the resignation of Anita Balchandani in February,
