SuperGroup sales growth back on track

SuperGroup, owner of the fashion brand Superdry, has seen a 66% rise in total group sales during the three months to 31 July following a sales slowdown earlier in the year.

Total group sales reached £54 million in the period while retail sales grew 51% to £34 million with all channels growing.

Wholesale sales were up 98% to £21 million due to the increasing success and expansion of Superdry internationally.

SuperGroup said its UK roll-out was on track with two standalone stores opening in the quarter bringing the total to 62. There was also a small extension to the Covent Garden store in London. Since the quarter end, the group opened a further two new stores with more openings planned in the lead up to Christmas.

CEO Julian Dunkerton commented: “We see continued growth across our business – in the UK, overseas and via our internet platform.

“Our domestic and international roll-outs are on track and we remain excited about the Group’s future prospects.  We are nevertheless operating in a difficult retail market which reflects the macro economic environment.”
