Superdry CFO to leave business to pursue plural career

Superdry has announced that Nick Wharton, its chief financial officer, is to retire as he looks to pursue a plural career.

He will be succeeded by Ed Barker, currently director of group finance, and previously interim chief financial officer, at Sainsbury’s.

Barker will take up his new position sometime during the second quarter of 2018.

Superdry said Wharton will work alongside Barker for a “period of time” to ensure a smooth handover and the completion of the audit of Superdry’s accounts for the financial year ending 28 April.

Euan Sutherland, chief executive of Superdry, said: “Nick has been a key part of the team leading the repositioning of Superdry as a global digital brand which has demonstrated world-leading capabilities and a strong track record of strategic and financial delivery.

“I am delighted that Ed is joining us as we embark on the next phase of our ambitious growth plans. He has strong experience of building brands and leading in competitive multichannel businesses through his previous roles at Sainsbury and Burberry.“
