Superdrug to support Autism Hour
On 8 October at 11am, over 600 Superdrug stores will turn off all background music and take steps to make stores a less intense and overwhelming place for those with autism.
With one in 100 people on the autism spectrum, research has shown that 64% of autistic people avoid going into shops due to the noisy, busy and often unpredictable environment.
Jo Mackie, Superdrug customer and people director, said, “We are delighted to support The National Autistic Society with Autism Hour this October, and have worked closely with them to adapt our stores for the quiet hour.
“We’d love to invite people with autism, their friends and families, to shop with us in an environment which is hopefully comfortable and peaceful for them.”
