Superdrug raises £2.5 million for Marie Curie charity

Superdrug has raised over £2.5 million for its charity partner Marie Curie.

A cheque was presented to Marie Curie Nurse Catherine Le Roy by Superdrug’s chief executive Peter Macnab and commercial director Simon Comins last week at Superdrug’s biennial Charity Extravaganza.

The event was also supported by Davina McCall, who acted as host, and Frankie Bridge of The Saturdays, who is the face of #FeelSuper campaign from Superdrug and P&G.

Nigel Duxbury, Superdrug property director, said: “We are immensely proud to support the incredible work Marie Curie does and delighted to reach the £2.5m milestone.”

Marie Curie has been Superdrug’s chosen charity since January 2013 and over the last three years Superdrug stores around the UK have raised funds through a range of activities. The money raised helps the charity to provide care and support to people living with a terminal illness.

To mark the 30th birthday of Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal earlier this year, Superdrug stores staged a takeover nationwide where staff held collections, dressed in yellow and organised fundraising events.

In addition to store fundraising activities, the partnership has led to the development of a range of limited edition products including face wipes, nail files and socks.

Jude Bridge, executive director of marketing, fundraising and public affairs, at Marie Curie said: “We are completely overwhelmed with the support that Superdrug has given us over the last few years and so thrilled that Superdrug staff have worked so hard to raise such an outstanding sum. We can’t thank Superdrug enough for all its support and look forward to working with them in 2017.”
