Sainsbury's opens energy efficient store in Kings Lynn
Sainsburys has opened a new store in Kings Lynn which it claims is one of the most energy efficient supermarkets in the country.
The 72,000 sq ft store, which opened yesterday, features a range of green technologies to help it consume less energy and generate renewable energy on site. These include 1,000 solar panels on the roof, ground source heat pumps under the car park, rainwater harvesting, and natural refrigeration for fridges and freezers.
The new store has created 400 jobs for local people.
Local MP Henry Bellingham said: "I am absolutely delighted that one of Britain’s favourite companies has made such a significant investment in King’s Lynn. Not only is it a state of the art store featuring many environmentally friendly systems, it is going to be a very significant employer in the town."
