Sainsbury's launches Tu fashion collections with Royal College of Art
Sainsburys has collaborated with The Royal College of Art to launch four new Tu at Sainsburys fashion collections to coincide with the brands tenth anniversary.
Each of the four collections has been created by an MA student at The Royal College of Art, whose design ideas were selected by Tu at Sainsbury’s in-house design team.
Launching this month, the first collection has been designed by Finnish MA student Vivi Raila and was inspired by the bright colours and bold shapes of stained glass art.
Anna Clarke, Sainsbury’s head of buying for womenswear, said: “Our collaboration with the RCA felt like the perfect way to celebrate a decade in style, and after ten great years we felt it was important to show our support for new talent. The level of work we saw from the students throughout the project was outstanding, and we hope this offers them a stepping stone for their future careers.”
Raila added: “I was truly honoured to be chosen to design a collection for Tu at Sainsbury’s. Watching my designs come to life for such a big brand was so exciting.”
Comprising ten pieces, Raila’s collection includes a mix of eveningwear, staples and casual separates with prices ranging from £20 to £30.
The collection will be available in selected Sainsbury’s stores nationwide from 21 October.
