Sainsbury's bolsters marketing team
Sainsburys has bolstered its marketing leadership team with three new hires.
Mark Given has been appointed to the newly created role of head of brand communications. Given will join the supermarket from his role as head of sponsorship at O2, having previously worked at Heineken UK and Procter & Gamble.
Alex Owens will become head of insight, joining from Lloyds Banking group where he was head of strategy. Prior to this, Owens worked at Capital One, BSkyB, the BBC and Millward Brown.
In the final appointment, Sophia Weir will take up the role of category manager for advertising and media. Weir will join Sainsbury’s from her role as business director at global media company Mindshare, having also worked at Budweiser and Starcom MediaVest Group.
All three recruits will join the supermarket in January.
Commenting on the moves, Sarah Warby, Sainsbury's marketing director, said: "Mark, Alex and Sophia are great additions to the team, and will help us continue to deliver competitive advantage through efficient and integrated marketing campaigns, under the banner of Live Well for Less."
