Sainsbury's appoints marketing director
Sainsburys has named Mark Horgan as its new marketing director. He will replace Gwyn Burr who vacated the role in July 2010 following his appointment as the supermarkets customer service and colleague director.
Horgan joins from Mastercard where he is managing director of its Access Prepaid Worldwide subsidiary. Previous roles include European CEO at The Number (118 118), group marketing and strategy director at MFI, and group and regional brand director at Mars Confectionery.
At Sainsbury's, Horgan will take responsibility for the supermarket's customer insights and loyalty, brand communications and non-food marketing. He will start within the next six months and will report to commercial director Mike Coupe.
Commenting on the appointment Coupe said: “Mark brings with him a wealth of experience, He has a fantastic background working for high-profile brands and has the expertise needed to develop the Sainsbury’s brand.”
