Sainsbury's Darren Shapland stands down as group development director
Sainsburys has announced that Group Development Director, Darren Shapland, will be standing down in July.
Shapland said he would be pursuing a number of personal interests but would remain with Sainsbury's as Non-Executive Chairman of Sainsbury's Bank.
Luke Jensen, currently Managing Director Non-Food, and a member of the Operating Board of J Sainsbury plc, will take over Shapland’s role and will assume all of Shapland’s current responsibilities excluding Convenience, the Bank and Property. Jenson will continue to be a director on the Operating Board.
The company said that Justin King, Chief Executive, will assume responsibility for the Convenience business whilst John Rogers, Chief Financial Officer, will take on Property.
King said: "I have enjoyed working with Darren both personally and professionally and thank him for the considerable contribution he has made to the recovery programme, Making Sainsbury's Great Again, over six successful years.”
He added: “I am confident that with the appointment of Luke, together with the strong leadership team we have in place, our growth agenda will continue as planned."
