Royal Selangor to open first UK standalone store
The 1,317 square foot store will open this summer adjacent to Designer’s Guild.
Peter Coleman, managing director of Royal Selangor UK, said: “We wanted to launch our first store in the UK in a destination that reflects our quality and heritage. The King’s Road met our requirements perfectly due to the great mix of brands that share a similar ethos to our own and the cachet it holds as one of London’s most significant retail addresses.”
Established in Malaysia in 1885, Royal Selangor has stores in more than 20 countries. The Chelsea flagship will stock the brand’s customised and designer homeware, as well as ornaments and personalised gifts, all made from pewter.
In addition, Royal Selangor’s two complementary brands Selberan jewellery and the 350-year-old sterling silver brand Comyns will both be available in store.
Richard Everett, estate manager at Sloane Stanley, said: “We are committed to creating a unique mix of retailers with a certain style on the King’s Road, and the arrival of Royal Selangor is consistent with this strategy. They will appeal to residents and visitors alike, reaffirming the King’s Road’s position as one of the most important retail streets in London.”
Sloane Stanley is one of the oldest landowning estates in London, and has been part of Chelsea for over 250 years. The estate owns and manages hundreds of residential and commercial properties on the King’s Road and Fulham Road.
The news follows busy twelve months for the estate, with the opening of 9,421 square feet of new retail brands and restaurants including Kurobuta, Baar and Bass, and Duck and Dry.
