River Island collaborates with Georgia Hardinge
High street fashion retailer River Island is to launch a collection with British fashion designer Georgia Hardinge. The collection will mark the retailer's third collaboration as part of its Design Forum initiative.
Inspired by the work of Swiss surrealist painter and sculptor H.R. Giger, the 14 piece Spring/Summer 2013 collection includes statement items such as a neoprene printed structured hip dress and printed maxi skirt with matching top. There are also a number of more subtle pieces featuring three-dimensional sculptural elements.
Commenting on the collection Hardinge said: "Working with a really strong team of people at River Island has been a great experience; it's so nice to have lots of people to make my designs a reality. It is great to be a part of something so new and I definitely think this is the way forward for the high street, making a luxury product become accessible to all."
The collection will launch through a short film created and directed by film maker, Alex Turvey at the Fash/On Film event at London Fashion Week in February. Fash/On Film is an initiative devised by the British Fashion Council and River Island, to support and develop film in the fashion industry.
Hardinge graduated from the Parsons Paris School of Art and Design and launched her first collection during London Fashion Week in 2009. Since then the designer has collaborated with Victoria's Secret and Lancome, and has also dressed a number of celebrity clients including Beyonce, Florence Welch, Lady Gaga, Jessie J and Nicole Scherzinger.
