RetailTRUST raises over £1 million at annual Celebration event
RetailTRUST, the charity which supports those working in retail, has raised over £1 million at its annual Celebration event.
Sponsored by American Express, XPO Logistics and Dransfield Properties, the 63rd Celebration was attended by celebrities and big industry names including fashion entrepreneur Harold Tillman, Rugby World Cup winner Phil Vickery and retail legend Don McCarthy.
Held at London’s Old Bllingsate, the event was a night of non-stop entertainment hosted by radio’s Dave Berry. The evening also included sets from musical comedian Kev Orkian, DJ Benny Blanco and X Factor favourites Alien Uncovered.
The Silent Auction and Grand Auction offered prizes and experiences such as Adele concert tickets, cricket coaching masterclasses and pop music memorabilia as well as items donated from brands such as T2, Paul Smith, Next and Maplin.
The evening also celebrated the success of the charity’s RetailRIGHT employment programmes and the creation of the RetailCURe Credit Union which offers affordable borrowing services to members.
Richard Boland, chief executive of RetailTRUST, said: "Our second great Celebration at Billingsgate showcased the successes of 2015 to almost a thousand Patrons, supporters and sponsors. It was fantastic to see some of our ‘unsung heroes’ welcomed so graciously at the event as well as the thanks to our benefactors from some of the beneficiaries.
"The fantastic night was underpinned by real people giving real life stories demonstrating the great impact the trust has and raised over £1 million to ensure we further grow that impact in 2016."
