Retail Trust supports retail leaders of the future free scholarships
Retail Trust, the only charity that looks after the three million people working retail, is offering retail managers the opportunity to apply for one of six free scholarships (worth over £1750) to the Oxford Summer School Foundation course on 9th -13th July.
The week-long intensive programme, is designed to develop managers early in their career and focuses on making real business improvements, all within a dynamic arena suited to reflection on issues faced by developing managers. The course also offers a varied social programme enabling networking with hundreds of other retailers and unprecedented opportunities to hear from the retail leaders.
Attendees will identify their individual leadership styles in order to improve personal effectiveness and help them achieve their business objectives. They will be trained in responding to customers’ changing expectations, and giving presentations that inspire and energise, and will look at ways to increase sales and hone their interviewing skills.
Bira, the British Independent Retailers Association, has extended the offering of the original Oxford Summer School in response to demand for different levels, and has created the Foundation and the Academy, which have allowed for the courses to be more tailored to specific audiences. The Foundation is the course most suitable for first time managers.
Nigel J L Rothband, Retail Trust CE says: “Scholars of the traditional Summer School are advocates of the course because of the tremendous impact it has had on their career. We are delighted to help the leaders of the future reach their potential through the scholarships – it is these people who will shape the retail sector for years to come.”
The Retail Trust scholarships are aimed at SMEs with fewer than 1000 employees, for first appointment store managers, head office department managers, large store department managers, and supervisors who are in line for promotion within six months. To apply, download the application form at www.retailtrust.org.uk/oss and submit by post or online 27 April. For more general information, see www.oxfordsummerschool.co.uk.
