Reiss gets sales boost from WiFi and iPads in store
This latest development is designed to complement the retailer’s multichannel offering and give customers full visibility of its entire product range.
The Meraki WiFi network, supplied by Vodat enables the iPads to connect to Reiss’s website so customers can view the full collection of Reiss’s products, and offers the chance for customers to purchase additional items that aren’t held in the store. The global fashion retailer is 90% of the way through the rollout with 57 stores in the UK live as well as seven stores in the US and one store in Ireland.
Alex Dixon, Business Systems Manager at Reiss, said, “We identified a gap between the products we offered in our stores and those on our website and needed to address this. With the introduction of iPads customers are able to browse the website instore and can purchase additional items. The WiFi running the iPads is managed using cloud based technology, this has given us a centralised and manageable view of the estate. Store staff have access to the retail intranet, ‘The Clothes Line’ giving them access to up-to-date information on store operations. We have seen this as an absolute must to bridge the gap, there should be no boundaries for our customers when they come into one of our stores. Since the introduction of iPads we have seen an uplift in incremental sales and the project is on target to pay for itself in less than six months.”
Dixon continued, “Vodat already supply and manage our MPLS network. We knew we wanted WiFi but wanted this managed for us and Vodat could offer us the service we were looking for. At the moment we have one iPad per store but in the future we may look at introducing more. The fitting rooms is one area we are considering looking at so customers trying items on can see what other items are available to complete their look. Future plans include allowing customers onto our WiFi network in a controlled manner and streaming videos via the iPads. It’s still early days but we have been extremely pleased with the results we have seen so far.”
Paul Leybourne, Head of Sales at Vodat International, said, “We are seeing a big interest from retailers putting in WiFi solutions in stores. Reiss are a great example of a retailer who has embraced the technology and have been able to prove it has increased sales. We also expect them to see over time additional benefits around brand presence and customer service.”
