Purple potatoes on sale at Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's is exclusively stocking the UK's first ever fully purple potato
Supplied by Albert Bartlett and grown in Scotland; the Purple Majesty is a brand new vegetable and a colourful addition to Sainsbury's veg aisle.
Sainsbury’s says that as well as providing its show-stopping looks, the naturally occurring deep purple skin and flesh mean the delicious potato is also full of anthocyanins, which put the rich colours into blueberries, blackberries, red cabbage and aubergines.
“Superb for mashing, roasting, baking and frying, the Purple Majesty has a similar taste to its colourless counterparts but is guaranteed to spark conversation with dinner guests of all ages”. The purple potatoes are available in 100 Sainsbury's stores until the end of November and will come with an exclusive Albert Bartlett recipe book, compiled by celebrity author and cook, Sally Bee.
