Primark to open new flagship store in St David's
Discount fashion retailer Primark is to open a new flagship store in Cardiff's St David's shopping centre as it looks to increase its floorspace in the city.
The retailer will take an 86,000 square foot store at the Intu and Land Securities owned shopping centre to grow its existing floorspace by more than 80%. The new store is expected to open by summer 2014.
Joanne Skilton, retail and leasing director for Intu said: "We are delighted to announce that Primark's flagship store for Cardiff will be at St David's. This letting complements the incredibly strong fashion and clothing offer within the centre which our 39 million annual shoppers really love. It comes on the back of a fantastic year of deals for the centre reinforcing how important St David's is for retailers wanting flagship stores in key retail locations like Cardiff."
A Primark spokeswoman added: "We are delighted to be relocating Primark to St David's in the summer of 2014. We know there has been a huge demand for a bigger Primark store in Cardiff so it is exciting to finally turn this into a reality."
St David’s has seen a number of new openings in recent months including the first stores in Wales for Hamleys, A|X Exchange, and Cosy Club.
