Primark sells online for the first time through tie-up with Asos

Budget fashion retailer Primark has begun selling its clothes on the internet for the first time through a tie-up with online fashion retailer Asos.

Primark has over 250 stores in Europe, including 161 in the UK, but has never had its own e-commerce website through which to sell its clothes.

Yesterday Primark launched a collection of 20 items on the Asos website which includes dresses, jeans and jackets ranging from £6 to £22. Menswear is expected to be added at a later date.

The online offering with Asos is understood to be a trial that will last a few months.

The Asos website states: "Retail phenomenon Primark joins Asos as part of our round up of great British high street brands. With their unique take on the latest must-haves and newest trends, Primark fans can get their hands on their award-winning affordable fashion, from skinny jeans and denim to skater dresses and printed t-shirts."
