Pret a Manger wins French award
Pret a Manger, the UK sandwich chain, has been honoured in France with the award of the prestigious Enseigne dÂ’Or.
The award was made at a ceremony in Paris attended by French retailers. Previous winners include the likes of Apple, Ikea and H&M.
Pret a Manager received the award for the efficiency of its operations.
The chain operates three shops in the French capital, all of which achieve higher average sales than its London stores. A fourth shop is due to open next week.
Clive Schlee, chief executive of Pret a Manger, said: "We took on the challenge of the French market with zeal, and were initially worried about how we might be received in Paris. This award is the realisation of what our Parisian customers have already been telling us. They love the quality of our food and the speed of service – always delivered with a smile."
