Poundstretcher appoints Richard Kirk as CEO
Poundstretcher has appointed Richard Kirk, the former Peacocks CEO, as its new chief executive.
Kirk has over 40 years experience in the retail sector having started his career at Woolworths on the shop floor. He worked as managing director of the Iceland frozen food chain from 1978 to 1996, expanding the number of stores from 100 to over 400.
In 1996, he joined Peacocks as chief executive and helped to grow the business into a national chain.
Commenting on his appointment Kirk said: "I am delighted to be joining Poundstretcher. The business is ambitious and extremely well-placed with 400 stores across the country, to take advantage of current economic conditions and consumers’ increasing desire for quality products at great prices."
Aziz Tayub, Poundstretcher chairman, added: "I am delighted to welcome Richard to the business as we embark on the next stage of our development."
