Poundland sold for £200m in private equity deal
Advent International is selling Poundland to private equity firm Warburg Pincus
Poundland, Europe's largest single price discount retailer, said the deal would support further growth. The retailer performed well during the recession as cash-strapped shoppers cut their cloth and sought out bargains.
Advent International bought Poundland for £50 million in 2002,and had recently appointed Close Brothers to assess its options for the business. Last month Advent bought DFS for £500 million.
