Pets at Home increased its revenue by 8.8% in the 53 weeks to 31 March as trade was boosted by an “excellent” performance from its veterinary practices and grooming salons.

Pets at Home reports full year revenue growth

Pets at Home increased its revenue by 8.8% in the 53 weeks to 31 March as trade was boosted by an “excellent” performance from its veterinary practices and grooming salons.

Group revenue rose to £793.1 million from £729.1 million in the previous year.

On a like-for-like basis, sales rose by 2.1% with merchandise sales growing by 1.4% and services sales up 10%.

Ian Kellett, Pets at Home chief executive, said: "With group like-for-like revenue growth of 3.2% in the final quarter, we are pleased with the continued positive sales momentum in our merchandise business and have seen excellent performance in both our vet practices and grooming salons.“

During the period, Pets at Home opened 20 new superstores, six Barkers stores and one Whiskers 'n Paws trial format store. It also opened 50 veterinary practices and 60 grooming salons

Membership of its VIP club grew to 4.5 million after 1.3 million members were added during the year
