Pets at Home appoints first chief information officer

Pets at Home has appointed William Hewish to the newly created role of chief information officer.

The move is part of the retailer’s plans to take a more digitally-led approach to its business.

Hewish is joining Pets at Home from United Utilities where he has worked for the last six years leading the technology, data and business change teams. Prior to that, he held senior technology roles in companies such as Lloyds Pharmacy, DeVere Hotels and Booker.

In his new position, he will report to Peter Pritchard, Pets at Home group chief executive. He is due to join the company in early 2019.

Pritchard said: “I am delighted to have recruited someone of William’s calibre to take on our new role of chief information officer, an appointment which now completes our group executive team. William’s knowledge will play a key role in supporting the strategic IT needs of our business as we move towards a more integrated, digitally-led approach.”

The company said Pritchard’s experience and “know-how” will help integrate its digital platforms and build systems that are “fit for the future”.
