Paul Smith to be subject of Design Museum exhibition
The career of fashion designer and retailer Paul Smith is to be celebrated in an exhibition at Londons Design Museum later this year.
Running from 15 November 2013 to 9 March 2014, the ‘Hello my name is Paul Smith’ exhibition will reference Smith's influences and fashion designs, charting the rise of one of the world's leading fashion brands. It will also explore how Smith’s intuitive take on design, together with an understanding of the roles of designer and retailer, laid the foundations for the company’s success.
Paul Smith’s first-ever shop in Byard Lane Nottingham will be recreated in the exhibition together with his personal office which will contain the myriad of books and objects that have been a continual source of inspiration to him.
There will also be projections, audio and film clips from Smith’s fashion shows, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the brand. In addition, there will be a display of his shop interiors from around the world, all of which are unique.
Published by Rizzoli, the book ‘Hello, my name is Paul Smith: Fashion and other stories’ will be released to coincide with the exhibition.
