Paperchase embarks on major US push via Staples deal

Design-led stationery retailer Paperchase has signed an agreement with stationery giant Staples to sell Paperchase products in Staples stores across the US.

Starting next week, 1,200 US Staples stores will stock a range of Paperchase products including notebooks, journals and albums as well as tote bags, gifts and accessories. The collection will also be sold online through Staples.com.

Paperchase chief executive Timothy Melgund said “As part of Borders, we successfully traded within 750 US stores achieving sales of $50m a year. We are therefore delighted to be able to extend our reach back to those US customers.

“This move also highlights the growing pace of our international ambitions. Earlier this year we demonstrated our commitment to the US market by establishing our localised paperchase-usa.com website. But selling through Staples stores is a fantastic opportunity for us and will enable Paperchase to be more accessible to US customers than ever before.”
