Nisa donates nearly four tonnes to foodbanks

Around 269 suppliers attending a Nisa Retail annual exhibition have donated nearly four tonnes of stock to The Trussell Trust charity which co-ordinates food banks across the UK.

The Nisa team collected food supplies from trade stands such as Princes and Kingsmill at the exhibition in Stoneleigh. In total Sparkhill foodbank took 196 kilos away, Coventry foodbank 2.965 tonnes and Warwick food bank 842 kilos.

Clare Bryant, Nisa events and exhibitions manager, said: “We are overwhelmed with the success of this initiative. The suppliers were extremely generous and we are very grateful they have supported us to help those less fortunate.

“We are already looking forward to organising something similar and just as successful next year.”

Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK.

Anne Danks, Northern England Trussell Trust manager, said: “It’s a very timely and generous donation from Nisa and its suppliers because we have seen a 163% increase in food bank usage last year.

“In total 900,000 people received three days emergency food and support from our foodbanks and we believe this is just the tip of the iceberg of people out there who need help.”
