New West End Company appoints MD for the trading environment
New West End Company, the organisation responsible for the management and promotion of Londons Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street, has appointed Steven Medway to the newly created role of managing director - trading environment.
Taking up his new position at the end of September, Medway will report to New West End Company chief executive Richard Dickinson and will be responsible for enhancing the West End’s shopper services. This will include overseeing an extensive review to ensure that West End visitors find a welcoming environment.
Medway will also drive improvements to public spaces and press the agenda on behalf of the New West End Company’s membership on issues such as traffic reduction measures.
His most recent role was as Gap store director for the brand’s West End stores, including the European flagship on Oxford Street. He is also the outgoing chairman of the Oxford Street Management Group, an advisory board set up by New West End Company which he has chaired for the last two and a half years. The group provides guidance and feedback to New West End Company on marketing and operational initiatives.
The trading environment role is New West End Company’s second heavyweight appointment this year following the announcement that Jace Tyrrell will be returning to the organisation as deputy chief executive in October.
Dickinson said: “A new senior management team further strengthens our resolve for the West End to remain the world’s favourite retail destination. Steven’s appointment ensures our agenda on improvement will be focused to engage all of our stakeholders on behalf of our members. His 14-years of retail experience means he is absolutely the right person to help oversee the West End’s continuation as a world-class shopping destination.”
