New Shoplink scheme to boost NFRN members’ profits

The National Federation of Retail Newsagents has launched a new scheme to help independent retailers access the best deals when ordering stock.

The trade association said its new Shoplink scheme will give NFRN members access to hundreds of high margin products which can be ordered through the Shoplink website, with all orders delivered direct to the retailers’ stores.

Products available include children’s books, flowers, confectionery and toys as well as a range of £1 lines with margins of 40%.

NFRN commercial chairman Ian Shaw said: "Shoplink has been specially created by the NFRN to help independent retailers develop their businesses by offering them exciting new deals backed by high margins and profits.

"Up to now many of these products have only been available in multiple stores, so by launching Shoplink we are giving members the chance to win valuable new sales and so put more money in their tills."

NFRN national president Alan Smith added: "The NFRN constantly strives to deliver strong and relevant profit opportunities to members, enabling them to enter exciting new markets and enjoy increased sales and profits at a result. In today’s highly challenging retailing environment we want to provide our members with all the tools necessary to help them trade as successfully as possible, so we are delighted to reveal out latest initiative – Shoplink."

Smith said that he had trialled some of the Shoplink products in his Derby store, adding: "All have provided extremely popular and been a talking point in my shop."
