Mobile Fun appoints new product and purchasing manager

Mobile Fun, the online retailer of mobile phones and accessories, has appointed Shiah Yoong as its product and purchasing manager.

Yoong has over nine years of retail and ecommerce experience, having previously worked for Tesco and Halfords. In her new role she will be responsible for expanding Mobile Fun’s product ranges and maintaining good relations with existing and new suppliers.

Yoong will report directly to Mobile Fun’s managing Director, Mohammed Hussain. Commenting on the appointment Hussain said: “We recruited Shiah to meet growing demand in the UK and internationally and, as a result of her e-commerce trading experience with Tesco and Halfords, we see her contribution as key to further improving customer satisfaction. Shiah will also ensure we continue to provide the largest selection of accessories and that our core range offers high availability.”

Founded in 2000, the independently-owned online retailer recently announced that it is seeking a buyer to support the company in its international expansion ambitions.

Hussain added: “During this process, it’s business as usual at Mobile Fun as our team is working on  record Christmas quarter. We’re already experiencing increased sales, following the release of the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini, as well as a number of other hero tablets and smart phones.”

In the financial year ending 31 March 2012, Mobile Fun’s total revenue exceeded £10 million. The company said it is on course to launch in 20 new countries and hit sales of over £12 million in the year ending 31 March 2012. EBITDA is predicted to be £1.2 million.
