Michael Neil joins HMV as commercial director

HMV has appointed Michael Neil as its commercial director. Neil, who held the same position at Waterstone's, will succeed Gary Warren who left HMV last month to pursue other interests after 25 years with the company.

Neil will be responsible for the 55 strong commercial team at HMV UK and Ireland and Fopp.  He left Waterstone's last month just before HMV Group sold the bookseller to Alexander Mamut's A&NN Group.

HMV CEO Simon Fox said: "Michael brings with him a wealth of commercial insight and retail experience gained across a number of senior positions, and I am delighted to welcome him to HMV at this pivotal time as we continue our transformation into a broad-based entertainment brand."
