Marks & Spencer sponsors Macmillans Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning
Now in its 24th year, the event encourages people to get together with family, friends or work colleagues for coffee and cake to raise funds for the cancer support charity. In 2013, 154,000 people signed up, raising a record £20 million. This year’s event will take place on 26 September.
Macmillan first teamed up with Marks & Spencer on the event in 2010. In the last four years the partnership has raised £2.7 million, all of which has funded Macmillan posts in the community.
In addition to organising a range of in-store activities across the UK, throughout September Marks & Spencer will be donating 5p for every coffee and cake sold in its cafés, 20p for every Victoria Sponge sold in its food halls, and will be selling Macmillan branded cupcake kits at a suggested donation price of £2.
Designer Celia Birtwell has also designed a set of limited edition Macmillan badges which will be available to buy throughout September from M&S Cafés for a suggested donation of £2 per set.
