Marks & Spencer open all hours for Christmas

Jobs boost supports extended opening hours November 27 2002 Eleven Marks & Spencer will open for 24 hours in the run up to Christmas.

Marks & Spencer open all hours for Christmas

M&S launched a recruitment drive to take on an additional 18,000 new employees in the run up to the busiest shoppi
ng time of the year, enabling it to fully staff the additional opening hours.

M&S retail director, Barry Stevenson, said: "I am confident that extending trading hours over Christmas will be as popular this year as it was last year. We received very positive feedback from customers last Christmas, so we have continued with 24 hour trading and increased the number of our stores trading until midnight. Our aim is to help make Christmas shopping more enjoyable, easy and convenient at a time of year which is normally very pressurised for our customers."

The stores that will extend their trading hours are mainly edge-of- town stores for destination or late night shopping. Some neighbourhood stores will also open until midnight to help customers do their last minute Christmas food shopping.
