Marks & Spencer appoints new non-exec director
Marks and Spencer has appointed Lloyds Banking Groups Alison Brittain as a non-executive director.
Taking up her appointment on 1 January 2014, Brittain is currently group director for the retail division at Lloyds where she has worked since 2012. Prior to Lloyds, she was executive director for retail at Santander, and also spent nearly 20 years at Barclays as director of the Barclays and Woolwich retail networks and managing director of Barclays Business Banking.
Commenting on the appointment, Robert Swannell, chairman of Marks & Spencer said: “I am delighted to welcome Alison to the Board. She brings considerable financial and consumer experience and will be an excellent addition to the Board as we continue to develop and progress our strategy to become a multi-channel international retailer.”
Brittain added: “I look forward to joining the Board of M&S and contributing to the continued development of this trusted and iconic brand.”
