Marks & Spencer launches 'behind the scenes' podcast series

Marks & Spencer has launched its own podcast series that goes behind the scenes at the retailer and looks at issues such as sustainability and the high street.

Featuring interviews with M&S staff and guests from the world of business, government and campaign groups, topics will include the issues facing business today, the history of the high street and the ever-changing world of retail.

Stay updated with the latest retail news for free by subscribing to the Retail Bulletin mailing list.

Series one will cover sustainable business and M&S’ Plan A programme while a second series later in the year will look at the high street, working with the M&S Archive based in Leeds. A third series is currently in development. Each series will include six episodes.

The first episode, ‘The Cotton Challenge’, includes interviews with Mike Barry, M&S director of Plan A, and Lena Staafgard, chief operating officer at the Better Cotton Initiative.

Meanwhile, episode two will look back at 2013’s Horsemeat Crisis and the impact it has had on beef traceability and will feature M&S director of food technology Paul Willgoss and Geoff Ogle, the chief executive of Food Standards Scotland.

Former broadcast journalist Rachel Silver, who previously worked at LBC, ITN and the BBC, has been brought in-house at M&S and presents the Podcast series.

She said: “This is an exciting new step for M&S. We are inundated with requests for behind-the-scenes access and more information on the issues and campaigns we work on. The M&S Podcast is a great way to give a deeper insight to customers, shareholders, colleagues and journalists.

“The M&S Podcast adds another dimension to this and enables us to hear from people on what they do and their opinions on the issues at the heart of the business.”

Produced by Podraffi, the podcast is available on the M&S corporate website corporate.marksandspencer.com and iTunes.
