Manchester Arndale enjoys record breaking Sunday
Manchester Arndale enjoyed its single busiest Sunday of all time at the weekend with just under 200,000 eager shoppers visiting the shopping centre on the final Sunday before Christmas.
The centre, which has recently seen new openings by Mamas & Papas, Boux Avenue and Vans, is now preparing for the final pre-Christmas push.
David Allinson, centre director at Manchester Arndale said: “Christmas is invariably our busiest time of year and already we’ve had a number of retailers report incredible sales during the Christmas period. We’ve experienced a 25% increase in gift card sales from the same time last year and our charitable initiatives have seen an overwhelming surge in generosity in previous weeks.”
The shopping centre said its new charity gift wrap service has seen 8,292 presents wrapped so far with the strangest items including a huge elephant and stag from HomeSense and a tin of baked beans. The initiative aims to raise more than £10,000 to be shared between Macmillan Cancer Support, Henshaws Society for Blind People and St John’s Ambulance.
