Manchester Arndale beats best-ever footfall for a Saturday
Manchester Arndale Centre, the UKs largest inner-city shopping centre, has beaten its best-ever footfall for a Saturday with 232,000 shoppers visiting the centre on 3 December.
The centre recorded an increase of 10.2% year-on-year on last Saturday’s figures. This is in contrast to the North West region as a whole which recorded a decline of 4.9%. The total footfall at Manchester Arndale last week was over one million.
The centre said it is now on track to beat its 39 million customer footfall record of last year and predicted that it will reach 40 million by the end of 2011.
David Allinson, the new centre director at Manchester Arndale said: "Our flagship stores, recent new retailer additions and our creative marketing campaigns have all helped strengthen the shopping proposition for Manchester Arndale, especially in the run-up to the festive period.
"We remain hopeful that we will break our all-time record for yearly footfall figures by the end of December."
