London Designer Outlet reports strong Easter performance

London Designer Outlet has reported strong sales over Easter after the shopping destination benefited from good performances by top brands and low outlet prices.

When comparing the seven-day periods up to and including Easter Monday in 2019 against the same period last year, the centre found its total revenue rose by 4% year-on-year as footfall increased by 5%. Meanwhile, like-for-like revenue edged up 0.3% when new tenants were excluded.

The centre said fashion, footwear and sports categories benefited from the period’s warm weather. In addition, shoppers were able to take advantage of extra Easter savings through discounts and special offers. To celebrate Easter, the centre installed a giant dinosaur egg adjacent to its entrance on The Boulevard of Wembley Park which was popular with families and selfie takers.

LDO has reported its 18th consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth and 21st consecutive quarter of total revenue growth.

Managed by outlet operator Realm, the centre is adjacent to Wembley Stadium and features retailers such as Converse, Nike, Kurt Geiger, Superdry, Guess, Gap, Lee Wrangler, Jack Wills, M&S and Hamleys.

Sue Shepherd, Realm’s centre manager for LDO, said: “It is pleasing that our consistently strong trading performance has continued despite the pressures elsewhere in the retail sector. We have increased revenue every quarter since we opened in October 2013 meaning our retailers and restaurateurs can prosper here. It’s why several occupiers have upsized at LDO despite cutting back elsewhere.”
