LÂ’Occitane, Hugo Boss and Footasylum to open at Intu Lakeside

The Intu Lakeside shopping centre in Essex has signed up three new retailers as its £9 million food court refurbishment nears completion.

L’Occitane has opened a 299 sq ft store while Hugo Boss and Footasylum have taken 3,444 sq ft and 3,735 sq ft stores respectively, both of which will open in July.

Julian Wilkinson, regional director for Intu, said:  “We have invested £9 million in the reconstruction of the upper level at Intu Lakeside to deliver a fantastic new food court and champagne bar, as a backdrop for premium brands who want to take advantage of the 25 million annual footfall at Intu Lakeside and this fantastic shopping environment.

“We are targeting specific luxury retailers in this area of the mall and expect to make further announcements shortly.”

The shopping centre recently signed eight new restaurants for its fast food and express casual dining offer on the upper mall, most of which will open this summer. They include Harpers British Classics, Tortilla, Wasabi, Gino D’Acampo’s My Pasta Bar, Thai Express, Five Guys, Nandos and Patisserie Valerie.

Planning has been granted for a £100 million leisure quarter at Intu Lakeside, which will see the arrival of further catering names, as well as leisure uses such as family entertainment venues and health and fitness facilities.

In addition, the shopping centre received outline planning consent last year for a £180 million expansion of its retail offer to enable it to expand the retail space by a further 40 units.
