Liberty London, the iconic London department store, is launching a new free loyalty app for smartphones that offers customers bespoke in-store rewards based on their Instagram likes and purchasing history.

Liberty turns Instagram ‘likes’ into rewards with new personalised loyalty iPhone app

Liberty London, the iconic London department store, is launching a new free loyalty app for smartphones that offers customers bespoke in-store rewards based on their Instagram likes and purchasing history.

To access tailored rewards in store, customers download the ‘Tapestry’ app, then link to the Liberty account and Instagram.

On walking through the doors at Liberty, a customer’s iPhone is detected by an iBeacon, which triggers their Tapestry app to unlock Liberty loyalty vouchers.

The Tapestry app, developed by start-up The Upside, generates bespoke perks, such as exclusive offers, special gifts with purchase, invites to trunk shows or extra reward points for a purchase from favourite designers.

Perks are redeemed at the till as store staff scan a unique barcode from the customer’s iPhone.

The app takes a customer’s Instagram ‘likes’ and matches them against the brands available at Liberty. The app is also driven by Liberty loyalty data.

The app will be live for eight weeks in the store beginning this week.
