Liberty to open its doors to Channel 4

Channel 4 is to make a new documentary series about Liberty, the iconic London department store.

Channel 4 has commissioned Rize USA to make the three-part series Making Liberty, which will follow the store’s retail team as its gears up for the busy Christmas season.

The programmes will feature Liberty managing director Ed Burstell alongside head of marketing Kate Brindley as they manage a tightly knit team of what Channel 4 describes as “self-confessed eccentrics” and “fiercely loyal” staff.

Emma Cooper, Channel 4’s commissioning editor for documentaries, said: “Liberty is the last bastion of eccentric, eclectic design and is jam-packed with a wonderful cast of colourful characters. Making Liberty will tell the everyday extraordinary stories of life within one of the world’s best-loved and well-known stores.”

Making Liberty will be shown this autumn on Channel 4.
