Les Terrasses du Port welcomes 150,000 shoppers over launch weekend
Shopping centre operator Hammerson saw over 150,000 shoppers visit its new £400 million Les Terrasses du Port shopping centre in Marseille over its launch weekend.
Shoppers were treated to an acrobatic display before the doors opened to the 190 stores and restaurants at the shopping centre which has views over the Mediterranean.
Launched 97% let, Les Terrasses du Port offers 35 brands that are new to Marseille including Ted Baker, Uniqlo and Citadium. In addition, Parisian department store Printemps has opened its first new store in 30 years as the anchor retailer at the centre.
15,000 shoppers signed up to Hammerson’s new app, PLUS, which features geolocation technology powered by the largest installation of iBeacons in Europe. Hammerson is planning to roll out the technology to all of its European shopping centres, including the Bull Ring in Birmingham, this summer.
Hammerson chief executive David Atkins said: “There was a fantastic response from consumers to Les Terrasses du Port on its launch weekend and opening the centre virtually fully let demonstrates real confidence from both domestic and international brands in the French retail market.”
