Lakeland to offer contactless payments
Homewares retailer Lakeland is to launch contactless payments in-store. Partnering with Barclaycard and Visa Europe the retailer will offer customers the payment option in all 57 stores from 30 June.
Richard Armstrong, head of UK payment acceptance at Barclaycard, commented: "Lakeland’s decision to introduce contactless is great news for a pioneer in home shopping. It’s fantastic to see a well known brand such as Lakeland recognising the benefit that contactless technology can bring to their customers and their business."
Gary Marshall, director of operations at Lakeland, added: "Like Barclaycard, Lakeland offers customers innovative products that make life easier, so working together made perfect sense. We have strong values of quality and customer care, as a result we’re committed to meeting our customers’ needs – from the items in our range to payments at the till."
Barclaycard and Barclays said they have issued over 15 million contactless debit and credit cards since 2007 and put contactless terminals in more than 56,000 retail outlets.
