Karen Millen makes two senior management appointments

High street fashion retailer Karen Millen has announced two new senior management appointments. Becky Bateman has been appointed as retail director for the UK & Ireland and Pilar LaCave as retail director for Europe.

Bateman joins Karen Millen from Fat Face where she was retail director. Prior to that she held senior retail roles at Top Shop/Top Man, Waterstones and Laura Ashley. In her new role, Bateman will lead Karen Millen's proposition in its UK markets, differentiating the brand through its customer service offering and in-store experience.

Pilar LaCave, who most recently was global retail operations development manager at Diesel, will head up the management of Karen Millen’s international business in Europe. An experienced, multi-lingual operator, LaCave has previously worked with Burberry, Inditex and Hugo Boss.

Gemma Metheringham, managing director of Karen Millen, said: "As a fast growing international brand with a strong British heritage, these are two really important appointments for us.  With 100 stores across the UK, continuing to offer the best brand experience to our loyal domestic clients is as important to us as supporting the continued growth of our European business, where our store portfolio has increased by a third in the past two years to over 100 stores.

"We look forward to Becky and Pilar joining the management team to help drive forward our continued success in offering women around the world affordable, design-led luxury fashion."

Launched in 1981, Karen Millen has over 350 stores and concessions in 45 countries with transactional websites shipping to 21 countries outside the UK. International sales account for over 60% of turnover.
