JYSK opens milestone store in Poland
Furniture retailer JYSK has reached a milestone in Poland with the opening of its 200th store.
JYSK has around 1,800 employees in Poland where the company also operates a large distribution centre in the city Radomsko.
Chief executive of JYSK Nordic, Jan Bøgh said: “This makes us very proud and it means a lot to JYSK. Poland and the other Eastern European countries is the part of Europe where we are experiencing the highest growth, and I am pleased that the attitude towards JYSK in general is very positive. That is very much the case in Poland as well.”
Bøgh has attributed much of JYSK’s success down to the fact that the company also opens stores in smaller cities with around 20,000 to 30,000 inhabitants, thereby giving shoppers in provincial areas easy access to the Scandinavian brand’s products.
JYSK said it has no intention of slowing down its expansion in Poland.
Bøgh added: “Poland is a country with a population of nearly 40 million people, so we believe that there is room for plenty more JYSK stores. We must continue our hard work towards store number 300.”
In order to achieve this, JYSK said it will maintain its focus on its Scandinavian management style.
Country manager Piotr Padalak said: “The Scandinavian management style separates us as a company from the rather tough management style which is more traditional in Poland. That makes JYSK a popular company to work in, and we have many employees who have been with us since we first entered Poland, myself included.”
