Jones Bootmaker and The Body Shop sign up to Lincoln's Waterside

Jones Bootmaker and The Body Shop have signed up to take space at the Waterside Shopping Centre in Lincoln.

Footwear retailer Jones is to take a 2,042 sq ft unit while The Body Shop is making a return to the centre with 1,600 sq ft outlet. Meanwhile, existing tenant The Fragrance House has renewed its lease for a further ten years. Other recent signings to the shopping centre include Next and H&M.

Waterside’s owner Capital & Regional has recently launched phase two of a £9 million redevelopment  programme as it aims to strengthen the centre’s position as the dominant regional retail destination. Phase one involved the creation of a food court and a unit reconfiguration which included New Look increasing its store size from 12,000 to 14,000 sq ft.

The centre will now undergo further renovation works that will focus on modernising the centre’s entrance with a three-quarter height glass frontage. In addition, the three existing kiosks in the entrance will be upgraded with contemporary replacements.

Andrew Haughey, retail asset manager for Capital & Regional, said: “Since purchasing Waterside Shopping Centre in 2011, our focus has been on consolidating the centre’s fashion and lifestyle offer, which has been boosted by the signing of H&M and Next.

“The new letting to Jones Bootmaker, coupled with the renewal of The Fragrance Shop lease and the return of the The Body Shop, reinforces its status as the leading retail scheme in the area. The refurbishment of the entrance is part of our wider redevelopment plans, which are now in the final stages and are due to be completed later this year.”
