John Lewis to be first UK retailer to sell Nook e-reader
Following last weeks announcement that Barnes & Noble will be bringing its Nook e-reader to the UK this autumn, the US bookseller has confirmed that John Lewis has been appointed as its first UK retail partner.
John Lewis will be the first company outside the US to sell the Nook Simple Touch and Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight devices, the first Nook products to be made available in the UK. The e-readers will be sold in the retailer's 37 UK stores and through its online channels from October, with Barnes & Noble also offering the devices and content through its UK online storefront.
Jamie Iannone, president of digital products at Barnes & Noble said: “John Lewis is where knowledgeable customers turn for trusted advice on the best products to purchase, and they are a perfect partner to help launch Nook in the UK. We look forward to bringing more choice and convenience to discerning UK customers with our critically acclaimed line of reading devices and expansive selection of content."
Ed Connolly, director of buying for electricals and home technology at John Lewis, added: "Always first with the latest technology, John Lewis is thrilled to be chosen as the premier UK launch retailer for the NOOK. This award-winning line of eReaders adds greater choice to this expanding category. We think our customers will love NOOK's adaptability thanks to its E Ink display and unique built-in GlowLight, perfect for day or night time reading."
Barnes & Noble said that further product, pricing and availability details will be announced in the autumn.
